Searching and sorting your chats
For shepherdsUpdated 29 Sep 2026
Find any request or chat by name, company or date, and sort each tab the way you like.
As your chats add up, search, sort and filters on Chats help you find the one you want. They work on Requests, Upcoming and Past.
Search
Type into the search box (Name, company, topic or message…). Every word you type has to match, and capitals and accents don't matter.
Sort
| Tab | Sort options |
|---|---|
| Requests | Soonest slot (the default) or Newest request |
| Upcoming | Soonest first (the default) or Latest first |
| Past | Latest first (the default) or Oldest first |
Requests
Sort options: Soonest slot (the default) or Newest request
Upcoming
Sort options: Soonest first (the default) or Latest first
Past
Sort options: Latest first (the default) or Oldest first
We remember your choice for each tab on this device.
Filter
On a computer the filters sit on the right, above the Shepherd toolkit. On a phone or tablet, press Filters. You can filter by:
- Who: talents or fellow shepherds (once you've had a peer chat).
- Company: where they work, or the companies they follow.
- Topic: the topics of your chats.
- Status (Past only): Completed, No-show, Declined, chats still to log and chats still to rate.
- When: for example Next 7 days or Last 3 months, or Pick dates for your own range.
- Shared with you: chats where they shared a CV, growth plan, career ladder or LinkedIn.
Active filters show as chips above the list, with a count such as "Showing 3 of 5 requests". Press a chip to remove it, or Clear all to start again. If nothing matches, press Clear filters. The red badges on the tabs always count every pending chat, whatever you've filtered.
The search and filters stay on as you switch tabs, apart from ones a tab doesn't have (such as Status, which is only on Past).
