Beta testers: vote, comment and suggest ideas

Beta testers is where we share what we're thinking of building next. Anyone signed in can look around. Beta testers vote, comment, suggest their own ideas and try new features first.

Join or leave

• Open your account menu (your photo) and choose Join beta testers, just above Help centre. On a phone it's in the menu (three lines). It's there for talents, shepherds, organisations and work accounts.
• Press Join beta testers on the page. It's free and takes one click. Afterwards the menu says Beta testers.
• To leave, press Leave beta testers at the bottom of the page. Your votes stay on the board, and you can rejoin later (after 5 joins and leaves in a day, joining again waits until the next day).

The backlog

Every idea on the board has a status:

• Under consideration

  What it means: Ideas we're weighing up. Your votes help us decide.

• Planned

  What it means: We've decided to build these.

• In progress

  What it means: Being built right now.

• In beta

  What it means: Ready for beta testers to try.

• Shipped

  What it means: Live for everyone.

• Not now

  What it means: Parked for now. We may come back to them.

Switch between Board (a column for each status; on a phone, one column at a time), Gallery and List. Search, sort by Most votes, Newest or Recently updated, and filter by who it's for, by status or by My votes. Ideas set to Not now show when you turn on Show "Not now".

Open an idea to see its description, who it's for, its progress so far and the conversation about it.

Voting

• Press the arrow with the number to vote. Press it again to take your vote back.
• One vote per idea, and you can vote for as many ideas as you like.
• Voting closes when an idea ships or is set to Not now.
• When something you voted for is planned, in progress, in beta or shipped, we tell you in the bell.

Comments

• Open an idea to read the comments and add your own. Tell us how you'd use it and what's missing.
• Other people see your first name, the first letter of your last name and your photo. Talents who've turned off photo sharing show their initials instead. If your profile is hidden from shepherds, other people see your comments as "A beta tester" with no photo (the team still sees your name). Comments you post while it's hidden stay that way if you show your profile again later, and hiding it later hides your name on all your comments.
• You can edit a comment for 15 minutes after posting it, and delete your own comments at any time.
• Reply to a comment to keep a conversation together. When someone replies to you, you'll see it in the bell (the notice doesn't quote the reply, and it goes if the reply is deleted).
• Something that breaks the rules? Press Report under it and the team will look. A comment reported by 3 testers who joined more than a day ago is hidden until the team has looked at it. Replies from the KoffeeChat team are never hidden this way.

Suggest an idea

1. 1Step 1: Press Suggest an idea.
2. 2Step 2: Give it a name (5 to 80 characters), say what problem it would solve for you, and choose who it's for.
3. 3Step 3: If something like it is already on the board, we show it as you type: you can vote for that instead.
4. 4Step 4: Press Send idea.

Your idea stays private between you and the team until we publish it. When we do, the team writes the summary on the card, and the board shows your first name and last initial as the person who suggested it (not if your profile is hidden from shepherds when we publish it, or later). Follow it under Your ideas: Waiting for review, On the board, Merged (into an idea already on the board, and your vote moves with it) or Not for now, with a note from the team. You can withdraw an idea while it's waiting.
