For talents and shepherdsUpdated 10 Oct 2026
How to read your career ladder, from the role you're in today to your dream role, and who to meet at each step.
Your career ladder maps the steps from the role you're in now to the role you're aiming for, with a rough timeframe for each and the people who can help you climb. Open it from Career Ladder on Grow.
The rungs
- Your dream role at the top, marked with a golden trophy: where you want to end up.
- The next step up from where you are: the role to go for next. AI-suggested marks the rungs we've suggested for you.
- You are here at the bottom: the role you're in now.
- Under the ladder's tabs, a green banner says what the ladder is built from and has Open growth plan (or Create growth plan) for its top role.
What each rung tells you
- A short description of the role and roughly how long the step takes.
- Shepherds at that level: hover a face (or tap it on a phone) for a small card with their name, Verified, role and company. Book coffee chat starts a booking and Full profile opens their profile.
- Create growth plan at the bottom right makes a growth plan for that role: tasks, certifications and people to meet. It uses a career path slot and KoffeePoints, and asks you to confirm first. If you already have a plan for the role, the button says Open growth plan. Your career path slots
Changing it
- Every rung has an edit button at its top right: Edit role on You are here and on the step in the middle, Edit dream role on the top rung of My ladder, and Edit role on the top rung of a path's ladder. On a phone each one is just a pencil. Changing a role on your ladder
Saved automatically, and free
Your ladder is saved as soon as it's built, so there's nothing to save. It costs no KoffeePoints, and when your answers change, it's rebuilt the next time you open it.
