Why ratings stay anonymous

For talents and shepherdsUpdated 29 Sep 2026

Why ratings are shared in groups, what people see, and why your comment never reaches the person you rated.

Honest ratings only work if people feel safe giving them. So no rating can ever be traced back to the person who gave it, or to the chat it was about.

Ratings are shared in groups

A new rating stays private at first and counts nowhere. It's shared only together with other people's ratings, once at least 3 different people have rated the same person. Averages, chip counts and Kofi's summary then move a group at a time, so a change never points at one chat.

Until 3 different people have rated someone, their profile shows New.

What people see

  • An average rating and how many ratings it's based on.
  • The chips people pick most often (up to 5 of each kind).
  • Kofi's summary of what people said, which never quotes or names anyone.

What nobody sees

  • Who wrote a rating, or which chat it was about.
  • A breakdown by stars, or when each rating was given.
  • Your written comment. It's never shown to the person you rated: Kofi only uses it, with everyone else's, to write a summary.

Be kind and useful

Anonymous doesn't mean anything goes. Write what you'd be happy to say to their face, and our moderators can hide ratings that break the rules. Company review guidelines
